- Equal Access, Afghanistan recently commenced broadcasts of two
pilot episodes of the Afghan Family Health program, “Health is a
Blessing”, with focuses including nutrition, sanitation and basic
health awareness.
- On March 8, 2007, International Women's Day, Equal Access, Nepal
commenced broadcasts of “Together”, a new women's
empowerment radio program which focuses on the role of women in the current
peace process.
- With support from ACBAR and Counterpart International, EA
Afghanistan recently finished work on a new public information booklet, an
engaging community workshop and a dynamic radio series to raise awareness about
civil society organizations/ NGOs, including discussion of their aims and
methodologies. Stay tuned: You will soon be able to download the public
information booklet in English, Dari or Pashto.

- In partnership with Ideosync
Media Combine, Equal Access successfully a conducted a series of Safe
Migration Training Workshops in Delhi and Mumbai in February, distributing
satellite radio receivers to project sites and training participants in
technical issues, as well as facilitation skills for conducting listening group
discussions that address issues faced by migrants.
- In February, the EA, Nepal Chatting with My Best Friend Youth
Team formed a selection panel for screening the over 700 inquiries received in
response to requests for participation in EA’s upcoming Youth Leadership
Trainings to be conducted in April, 2007. Criteria for participant selection
were designed in consultation with representatives from USAID-Nepal, CARE,
Youth Action Nepal, UNICEF and Equal Access, Nepal.

- The EA, Nepal Chatting with My Best Friend Youth
Program’s website, www.ssmk.org, has
now been launched and is receiving exciting feedback.
- A new “NGO Public Information Booklet” has been
produced by EA, Afghanistan and will soon be available here to download.
- Equal Access has been awarded Flora Family Foundation support for
“Human Rights in the Light of Islam”, our Human Rights & Women
in the Context Islam project in Afghanistan.
- Equal Access, Afghanistan has been awarded Ministry of Public
Health, Government of Afghanistan support to create a digital story
complementary to the Afghan Family Health program,
“Health is a
Blessing”.
- EA, Nepal has received support from Chemonics International to
train 36 FM station journalists throughout Nepal to carry out live call-in
programs on the program themes related to the current peace process, conflict
mitigation and democratization in general.
