Chad Radio Project

Partner: US Embassy, Chad

Project Length: September 2011 – March 2017

In September 2014, Equal Access launched a project with the Chad Embassy to build and install two FM Radio Stations in the towns of Guerada and Bousso. This project is helping to expand radio coverage reach within Chad. After completion, the successfully-installed radio stations will achieve a 45-60km radius broadcast reach.

Along with establishing the radio stations, Equal Access is providing training and mentoring to media Chadian personnel on how to best operate and manage the stations. Two technical and two production staff from each station are partnered with radio stations in N’Djamena for a technical mentoring process where they will work alongside staff members at those stations. In addition the the Radio Mentoring program, two N’Djamena-based radio staff will travel to Guerada and Bousso to provide training to local station staff. This training ensures the successful formation of equipped station managers as well as skilled technical experts on radio production and broadcast.
