Sesame Workshop and Equal Access bring educational radio to children in Afghanistan

Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, in partnership with Equal Access

announced last week

that 78 radio episodes of the television series Baghch-e-Simsim will be broadcast on Radio Nawa and over 30 local FM stations based in central and remote provinces of Afghanistan.

Baghch-e-Simsim, which means “Sesame Garden,” contains 39 Dari and 39 Pashto locally-produced 20-minute radio episodes that depict traditions, culture, and other aspects of urban and rural life in Afghanistan.
