Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein

A skilled expert in program management and partnership, Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein has decades of experience in humanitarian and community development projects that he brings to EAI’s newest country office, Kenya.

Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein is EAI’s Kenya Country Director. He has worked for various USAID programs to deliver on their mandate in East Africa. Most recently with Development Training Services based in Arlington, VA, Hussein was a Senior Researcher in violent extremism. He was the Senior Program Manager with Adeso a regional humanitarian and development organization where he led a team of 20 local staff in a cash-based intervention to mitigate the impact on livelihoods in the drought-stricken population of the lower Juba region of Somalia.

Hussein held senior positions with the Kenyan government between 2011 and 2016 most notably as one of the authors of the current constitution. He also served on a board that vetted judicial officers from the magistracy to the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Hussein received his Bachelor of Education at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya, and attended Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa where he obtained a Masters of Arts in African History. He graduated with a Master of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from the Institute of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (now School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution) at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. To contact Abdirashid Hussein please email him at info@equalaccess.org.
