Anwar Jamili

Country Director, Afghanistan

Anwar Jamili has over 15 years of experience leading communications, outreach and community engagement programs that include radio, TV and community theater. He has extensive experience writing, designing and producing media programs.

Anwar Jamili is EAI’s Afghanistan Country Director leading creative programs in all 34 Afghan provinces for over 13 years. Anwar provides strategic leadership and oversight and represents EAI Afghanistan with donors, partners, and local communities. He has extensive experience in writing, designing and producing media programs.

Jamili offers expert technical support to program staff through strategic planning of content production. He manages the Afghanistan staff and oversees the production processes of all content for the local program activities. Anwar has significant local knowledge of education, conflict, and exceptional skills working with religious leaders and the Afghan government.

After graduating from Shaekh Zayed Medical Faculty, Jamili worked in various roles as a media expert, including as a senior program manager, production manager, producer and trainer on a variety of projects that focused on women’s rights, democracy, agriculture, health, and youth empowerment programs. Before EAI, Anwar worked with Chemonics – Rebuilding Agriculture Markets Program as a Communication Manager. Jamili is also a senior radio drama artist and actor in Afghanistan’s most extended radio drama produced by BBC / AEP New Home New Life.
